The 16th annual Native Orchid Conference (NOC) is being held at the South Beach Casino and Resort in Scanterbury, Manitoba, June 4-8, 2017. The NOC was last in Winnipeg in 2005 when participants came to see the western prairie fringed-orchid. This time the conference organizers want to focus on the ram’s-head lady’s-slipper, small white lady’s-slipper and moccasin-flower (pink lady’s-slipper) among other early-blooming orchid species. Registration is now open to NOCI members. Please go to the NOC website for details and registration information. A reduced rate is available for students, and conference speakers will have registration fees waived and receive a small honorarium. If you are interested in speaking at the conference, please send us some information about yourself and your topic by contacting the NOCI president and the information will be passed onto the conference organizers.

NOCI will be helping to organize two days of field trips during the conference on June 6 and 8. If you are interested in helping out as a field trip leader, please let us know.
